Where our information comes from

Transport and installation are governed by public rules, so public sources are our primary sources:

• The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development: the manufactured home construction standards (24 CFR Part 3280) and the Model Manufactured Home Installation Standards (24 CFR Part 3285), which we read in the Code of Federal Regulations and link directly.
• Federal transportation regulations, including the vehicle width standard at 23 CFR Part 658, and the state departments of transportation whose permit offices control oversize movement on their roads.
• The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's public carrier records, which anyone can search to check a transporter's USDOT registration.
• State manufactured housing programs and local building departments, for installer licensing, placement permits, and inspection requirements.

Where an article states a specific fact that depends on an outside source, we link the source so you can read it yourself. If we cannot verify a claim against a source we trust, we do not publish it.

How we handle facts that vary by state

Permit fees, escort thresholds, travel windows, installer licensing, and inspection rules genuinely differ by state and county. Rather than print one number as if it were universal, we frame state-variable facts as typical ranges and point you to the authority that controls your case: your state DOT permit office for transport, and your local building department for placement and setup. The same goes for costs: we publish planning ranges with the assumptions visible, and we say plainly that only a written quote binds anyone.

Who writes and reviews our content

Articles are researched, written, and edited by the MobileHomeHaul Editorial Team and carry that team byline with a published or updated date. We are deliberate about what we are not: we are not engineers, lawyers, or licensed installers, and we do not publish under invented expert names or fabricated credentials. How we keep content current

Each article shows when it was published and, when applicable, when it was last updated.
